When URNA was formed in 2014, Neighbors were asked to join, and membership dues used to contract with security patrols for the URNA area shown in the map below. Patrol hours were dependent on such dues and the number of members. In June 2017, URNA changed its model and partnered with the well-known security company Bay Alarm that also runs security patrols in the URNA area. This is a strategic partnership where URNA can refer its members to Bay while maintaining its community oriented activities such as liaising with Oakland Police, City Council, setting up cameras, publishing security tips, etc. As of July 1, anyone who wants to join URNA may do so and receive a discount with Bay Alarm to establish patrols for their residence, while further enhancing security for the entire neighborhood.
